CIrcle/ Calendar time
Circle/ calendar time is one of our most favorite parts of the day in my classroom. Everybody sits criss-cross applesauce on the carpet and we sing songs and answer questions about the calendar. We do this daily!
The first song we sing is about the months of the year! Sing this song and then have your child point to and/or say the month on the chart. If they need help, you can sing the names of the months and stop right before the correct one- many times they will get it then.

The next song we sing is the days of the week. This follows the same idea as above, sing it together and then have your child point to and/or say which day we are on by looking at the chart. Talk about what yesterday was and what tomorrow will be.
Next we sing a counting song and then point to the dates on the calendar starting with 1 and count until we get to the current day. If you have a calendar at home, you can use that!
At this point we stop and put all of this info we learned together. We say, "Today is: Monday, March 23rd, 2020" for example. Then we move on to singing about the seasons. After singing the song, we talk about what season it is and point to/say the name on the chart.
Then we sing about the weather. After singing, we look out the window to see what the weather is and point to/ say it on the chart.
Last, we sing 2 ABC songs and practice the signs that go with it.
