Education
I graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi in May of 2016. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education and English.
Experience
I have been an employee of Desoto County Schools and the Lewisburg school district since August of 2008. I held a teacher assistant position in Kindergarten for 5 years, and then transitioned to a Personal Care Assistant in Special Education for 2 years. I also worked as an assistant for the Extended School Year program for several years. During this time I gained invaluable experience and knowledge in working with students with developmental delays and disabilities. I truly found my calling and heart's passion in Special Education! I previously taught the K-2nd self-contained/ CBC class at LPS for 5 years.

ABOUT OUR CLASSROOM
This is a Special Education Preschool class class, but it operates very similar to a typical classroom. Much like the general education classrooms at LPS, we have a daily routine that includes Morning Meeting, literacy, math, writing stations, calendar time, snack, lunch, activity, recess, etc. However, because we have a smaller class size we can provide academic instruction for our students in smaller groups with more teacher support. We can diversify instruction based on each student's specific needs and ensure that every student receives a great education.
The stations will focus on Phonics, Reading, Writing, Math, Fine and Gross Motor Skills, and Life Skills. The Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards and each student's IEP goals will be reflected in these stations. We will also be continuously working on social, behavioral, communication, and emotional skills during the day.
My main goal as your child's teacher is to help them grow as a person, and to facilitate that growth with an abundance of educational opportunities that meet their personal needs. I feel truly blessed to be given the privilege of working with your child!
One of the best parts about our classroom is that we have many teachers and service providers to support our students and their needs!
